CONNECTIVITY - MAPPING THE FUTURE OF GLOBAL CIVILISATION
Parag Khanna, CNN Global Contributor \and Author
According to geopolitical futurist Parag...
of TED talk fame, we will live in a world in which megacities, supply chains and connective technologies redraw the map away from states and borders. We will experience true mass globalisation due to the global connectivity revolution – transportation, energy communication.
We took a peek into this borderless world:
Connectography
– a quantum leap in mobility of people, resources & ideas. We are going from political geography – how we legally define borders - to functional geography – how we actually use the world.
Mega cities
– by 2030 2/3 of the world’s population will live in cities. We are seeing the formation of mega cities that stretch way beyond the traditionally defined dots on a map e.g. from Vancouver all the way down to Tijuana.
Millennials
– by 2020 there they will make up 40% of the workforce and want to work in big cities
Freelancing
– connectivity is also fuelling a rise in co-working spaces.
