BUILDING AND BONDING FOR GLOBAL PERFORMANCE
Mark England, Director of Sports Services, \Team GB
The 2016 olympics...
were fraught with several challenges unique to Rio which made for a tough brief Team GB. Firstly they were the first games held in South America, which in itself brought unknown conditions. Factor in the socio-political challenges faced in Brazil such as recession and corruption then add to this the outbreak of Zika and you can start to imagine that Mark England’s job was not one to be taken lightly. Yet despite this, Great Britain smashed their medal target, achieved a succession of notable 'firsts' and caused a major stir by finishing second in the table, above global powerhouse China.
